No Entry

The first version of this appeared on the main door at work 10 days ago. Today it was updated to include more countries and the north of Italy, where one of my team is currently (and almost half my team are Italians from the north...).

Tomorrow I will rejoin a week long programme planning workshop for day 3. But what will happen to my colleague from Myanmar whom I’ve sat next to since Monday, as, according to this, even though he’s come all the way here specifically for this work, he’s not going to be allowed to enter the building tomorrow.

That said, I sit alongside a fantastic team of public health specialists who have worked in some of the worst disease outbreaks in recent years, most notably two large Ebola outbreaks, and I know that while the number of global cases seem small and scattered, halting a disease in its tracks can only really be effective by taking drastic action at early stages. Has that opportunity already passed? I guess we’ll know in the next few weeks....

Oh, and I guess my planned visit to Myanmar is on hold!
