Gifts of the Land
Paul asked us how many different things we'd eaten off the Land, we counted past twenty: asparagus, olives, acorns, oranges, tangerines, tomatoes, pears, plums, almonds, pomegranates, lemons, rosemary, bay leaves, camomile, basil, figs, hot peppers, mushrooms, lemon verbena, garlic and a lamb raised totally on our Land, gifted to us by its owner. We could have had snails, but didn't - I like the French ones, but haven't got into the small ones they eat here yet.
I was surprised, as don't feel we've really got going here yet... just goes to show how unaware I often am of what is gifted to me, and so to today's Gratefuls:
- all this Land has given us already, and all the asparagus and camomile that Paul picked today
- lunch at Sr Zé and D Nazaré's, Paul wanted to eat there like we always used to
- Cecílio and Ermelinda here for supper, their friendship and kindness, not just to us, but to many
