Dog day weekend ....
Today was even nicer (warmer) than yesterday so after lunch we drove up to the Plainfield Rail Trail and then Jacobsburg State Park.
We stopped at Plainfield first to see if any chipmunks were up looking for nuts and seeds and we immediately saw this little cutie. I think it's the same one we saw last weekend and that I saw on Tuesday whilst I was there.
We only stayed at Plainfield long enough to get a few pictures and then it was on to Jacobsburg for our walk. It must have been the gorgeous sunshine and warm temperatures but the park was teeming with people and lots of beautiful dogs. This state park is one of the few parks in the area that allow dogs ... and it showed!
We stopped at the frog pond first (still frozen) and then walked back to the Bushkill Creek. While we were taking pictures at the creek a group of people came by with a handful of dogs .... from tiny to large! We were hoping that at least one would go in the water but none did. The man holding the leash of the dog in my collage said he makes his dogs get shots (for bacteria issues) before he allows them in the water .... very smart man!
On the way home we spotted this black vulture hanging out near Green Pond. I took a few shots of him/her before continuing on home. Once home I sat in the backyard soaking up a little more sun. There was a small flock of Common Grackles in both the front and back yards. I took some pictures but they were simply awful. Hopefully we will being seeing a lot more of the Grackles in the coming months as they are really beautiful birds .... especially in the bright sunlight.
