Mums white elephant

This was given to my mum as a wedding gift (no idea who from) in April 1939 so has been in the family 81 years this year its a bit tatty now but we are going to do a bit of restoration on it. It always stood on mums bedroom windowsill.

Its been another really cold day with high winds again which seem to have died down a bit tonight.

The road to Castleford flooded again as the river peaked but it was going down tonight according to the facebook page devoted to the rise and fall of floodwater on Barnsdale Road which is proving very handy having flood watchers. The road to Fairburn and the ings is impassable too. Our floodwatchers keep an eye on that as well. The gritters were out tonight round the same area so if it freezes we will be skating tomorrow instead of taking to the jet skis. I kid not they do sometimes get them out when it is really bad.
