Venice? Or just Hamburg?

Saturday we spent another long day in Hamburg. The weather was as forecasted: rainy and windy!
We started with the Panoptikum, a kind of Madame Tussauds. The friendly man on the first extra picture made us almost turn around and leave, but we decided to ignore him and went to see all the other famous people.
Afterwards, the rain had stopped to pour and turned into a drizzle, we walked through Hamburg to see famous buildings, like the Michel (main church of Hamburg) and the Elbphilharmonie (extra picture two), and ended at the Speicherstadt (largest warehouse district in the world; extra picture three). Meanwhile it had become too cold so we decided to have a small warm lunch and went back to the hotel.

Early in the evening we went to visit the Miniatur Wunderland, probably the largest model railway in the world. They have built several countries, Germany of course, but also Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and USA. All models were matching the country, so famous scenes and buildings, cars, people, etc. etc. An example is the main picture of this blip, Venice.

The builders have a great eye for details. And have a humorous gene too. The brand new airport Knuffingen for instance is frequently visited by the Millennium Falcon. Or a UFO can be seen, Shaun and Bitzer, the popemobile been pimped, penguins waiting for a train, and so on.

Of course Hamburg it self has covered with a lot of buildings too, often in really perfect detail (e.g. Michel). Extra picture four shows the ferry in the harbour that connects the mainland with the Lion King theatre.
