The Ullswater road

...was essentially impassable but as usual people were giving it a go.

The young family in the holiday cottage next door had come down earlier but wisely gave it a miss and I met them heading to the pub as I was heading out.

I wasn’t in the mood for much; the week had caught up with me. I eventually got going and persuaded myself to catch up on chores. I feel so rubbish ... there were so many opportunities to get some ‘people at work blips’. First off, the opticians - I’m still adjusting https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2647480770116979954 and have given them a good trial, but have finally decided I can’t bear using these varifocals for reading or computer work so went in to get my second pair and am going to try the ‘occupational’ lenses. I considered blipping but bottled and before you could say ‘blip’ I was on my way to Timpsons to get my boots for work re-heeled. I nearly asked there but bottled and went on to the fruit and veg shop. I chatted away to the woman about struggling to be bothered to cook after work, I sooo nearly asked, but bottled, and with my tail between my legs I headed homewards and for a walk at Pooley to look at the bridge development and the water levels (blip). I very nearly asked ‘John’ (it was written on his hi vis jacket) who was overseeing the rising water levels at the bridge works, but didn’t, and walked on, and then walked back to ask, but didn’t, and then turned and walked on again. I walked up Dunmallard and for the first time saw parts of the original hillfort bank and ditch defences and as I descended I was surprised to see wild garlic emerging so picked some for the soup I was planning to make later. Then, my last chance, I went into the village shop as usual for kindling and it has had a complete refurb ... I was the only customer, we talked about the new look, and I so nearly asked ... but bottled. Sigh ... sorry blippers!
