trip to Smythson's and the purchase of a VERY early and VERY expensive birthday present to me from me
home to refresh
out to Sleeping Beauty by the English National Ballet at the Coliseum and being forced to down part of the contents of a bottle of champagne during the interval (such suffering!)
off to supper at The Ivy (duck salad and fish & chips)

a funny thing happened at the Coliseum - my cousin is a playwright and book publisher and has just had a very busy last fortnight with his latest play running and so was yawning as we sat down for Act II so I turned to him and said something along the lines of 'poor you, so tired after such a strenuous week with your play and everything....' and the chap (wearing a very nice black velvet suit and looking a little like Sammy Davis Jnr) who was sat directly in front of us turned and said, 'oh, yes, it's been so tiring for me.......'. Hahaha, too many famous faces in London (not that I have a clue who he is) all desperate to be noticed.
