De La Warr Pavilion

Mr C and I drove down to Bexhill to visit his G Auntie B. We arrived at 10 and after chatting for a few minutes asked if she would like to pop home to have a cup of tea there and, rather comically, I don’t think she could have moved much faster if she tried.

GA B moved into the care home to be with her husband  who was admitted there for palliative care and sadly passed away on 1st February. Due to poor eyesight and crippling arthritis, B is unable to do very much on her own without help but at the same time misses being in her own home. As Mr C, with his cousin, is power of attorney of her living will, they are there to support her with any decisions she makes (she is bright as a button mentally) and that may mean organising home care if that is what she wishes to do.

Once home we left her for a minute or two in her lounge as it’s the first time she has been back and first time without G Uncle B (she admitted to us before we left the home that she still hasn’t cried) and then she was straight on the phone ringing friends and relatives. She very much misses contact with the outside world when she is in the care home. I made tea and toasted buns, we sat and chatted and collected a few extra items for her to take back to the home. Once she was ready we dropped her back at the home. We will see her again next Tuesday for the funeral.

We popped into the Pavilion to grab some lunch. By the time we left it was raining quite heavily but I insisted on stopping further up the beach to try and grab a blip (extra) but it doesn’t show how I got battered by the freezing rain and wind.
