Belle Tout
A long and very windy walk over the Seven Sisters and up to the Belle Tout lighthouse this morning, returning via the inland route. Built in 1832 it operated until 1902 when it was replaced by the Beachy Head lighthouse at the foot of the cliffs. Used by the Canadians for artillery practice during the Second World War it is now a B&B having been moved 17 metres inland in 1999 when cliff erosion threatened to undermine it.
