Here we go again...
Much as this looks grim, the new defences and DIY measure we've put in place are, currently, holding.
It's also galvanised our little collection of houses into action about the alteration of the water course upstream in the village which we know contributes to this relatively new flooding phenomenon that threatens our properties. It's also caused irreparable damage to Orton Hall's fantastic grounds with many centuries old trees collapsing as the ground is always saturated. The little overspill beck that is under all that water used to be dry for 6-8 months of the year - now it always runs as a large part of the main beck has been diverted into it. We're seeking to get it blocked and the beck dredged.
