Anstruther, Fife
A characteristic feature of Fife’s vernacular buildings is the corbie or ‘crow-stepped’ gable, often seen combined with a clay pantile roof. Although in evidence elsewhere along the eastern Scottish coast and inland, these distinctive roofs contribute much to the special character and sense of place of the East Neuk fishng villages.
