ELVIS

There’d be hell to pay if Elvis got back
to find no named space for his pink Cadillac,
though his return’s not something I expect.

Yet the space is kept clear – a mark of respect
for the man many still say is The King
of Rock ‘n’ Roll. They’re still thinking

about him. Indeed, some don’t believe he’s dead.
Imagine the excitement if he did
make a comeback. He’d swivel those sexy hips,

kiss some heartbroken gal full on the lips,
and stand there in all his glory -
‘just a hunka hunka burning love.’

What a story that would be.
(Though if Elvis is alive
he’ll now be 85).
