A day out! Forecast was for fresh winds and hail showers. So I embarked on the old bike on an anticlockwise loop of Embra. An impregnable fortress protected by leylandia, a brief chat with the person planting 85 hardwoods at Ferry Road, the banality of Silverknowes, trying not to look suspicious as I had the police pass me 3 times as I took a photo / tree combo at Clermiston ( the photo is on one of my Instagram accounts for you purists out there)
North Bughtlin for more Suburbia inspiration, a curmudgeon in Wester Hailes, a dapper dude in Gorgie, an old one above Tanjore, a recluse next door to Baz and his increasingly bonkers Fenton-a-like hound, Porty , head winds, dermally abrasive hail en route to Leith, a blatant liar ( all the classics were displayed, the eyes, the words, the mannerisms and oh yeah the lies...after 10 minutes of tying herself in knots I finished it off with 'you know your enquiry for the Gorgie address you made last week? You gave this as your address ...where I've found you just now...but you live with your mother...?') before a well earned lentil soup. Only 50km, mind.
To Hers for vegan lasagne and much needed by both closeness.
I got soaked and frozen one final time find home, made sweeter by an almost unprecedented sweep of green lights all the way home. A joy.
The other joy was stumbling across Craigsbank Church at N Gyle and also meeting weel kent (on Instagram and Facebook at least) local photographer Craig Scott who was also after a shot or two of the magnificent edifice
