The oriel window on the right was the subject of the world's first photographic negative (possibly but not really!), taken by William Henry Fox Talbot. There were competitors, notably Daguerre, but he was there or there abouts.
I alerted Son #2 to the fact that there would be no Instagram without all this. I might have been a bit vocal which made me look like embarrassing Dad. I am, of course, that kind of Dad.
