we said a sad farewell to uncle davy baillie today, our very favourite from balmaha. he was a total gem, and not our even uncle - it took me a few years to work that out. I used to get to seal his rollies, we could never take him seriously as he would point his wee half finger at us whilst giving us a bollocking and he sang the best version of china doll ever. he’ll be missed...and still made us laugh at the funeral with ‘another one bites the dust’ at the end. it was good to see everyone from the balmaha days, davy would have loved to be there.

we went in to see gran on the way home, she was on fine form. first question when we arrived - did you bring wine? dad’s now the local wine merchant. she knew we were family but hazy on the details. great to see her.
