Life in a Northern Town

Bovisand

The wind abated this morning sufficiently for us to walk on the beach, and for Lizzie to go for a run. We are staying in the last grey house on the left; further along is Fort Bovisand, which has been there for over 150 years and is supposedly being converted to luxury apartments. The cliff is eroding - as you can see - and the whole site is exposed to the full force of the Atlantic so I just don’t see the development ever being finished. You can also see why we have such creaky, leaky windows in the house!

It’s Sarah’s birthday today so we went to the aquarium, strolled round the Barbican and are off out for dinner.  Mr C flies in from Amsterdam tomorrow so our peace will be shattered.
