Captain Birdseye and the unicorn
On our first full day in Germany, we sat around in the moning catching up, before walking along the banks of the river Weser, which had recently flooded. We were delighted to find some tall ships moored in the harbour.
Kim had to leave to fetch her daughter, but J and I wandered through the small alleyways that make up Botcherstrasse, with its small boutiques, and from there back to Kim's home close to the centre.
In the evening, Kim's aunt came round, and we went out
Into the cobbled streets to watch a procession of stilt walkers in lighted costumes parading through the crowd, seemingly floating above them. In the shot above I've captured one of a group of bearded gentlemen interacting with M, Kim's daughter, who was wearing a colour-changing unicorn horn. The theme of this year's carnival is 'high on love'. The main event will be on Saturday.
We got a beer from a bar and drank it on the street before returning to the house to sit around and talk once more until the early hours.
