Fieldfare

We were only out for a short time this morning, while the snow was still trying to decide whether to grace us with its presence.

At home the snow made a greater effort and I spent much of the day watching from the comfort of the living room, although surprisingly few birds come to feed. We haven't seen a fieldfare since the long winter of 2010 but today this one arrived to feed on the berries of a neighbour's cotoneaster - in past years a magnet for them.

I took hundreds of several photos, many spoiled when snowflakes blurred the image but I'm quite pleased with this one, too, considering they were taken through the patio window in a snowstorm - though I really wish I had cleaned the windows before the snow began.
