Remains of the Day

This is the last of the wild cherry that we had taken down a couple of days ago. It had tiny fruit, useless for harvesting, but a magnet for Elvis in autumn. No more pippy poo. The main stump had to be chain-sawed into smaller bits. I guess its a contradiction in environmental activism, if we used a petrol driven machine to cut up wood, which is eventually burnt in a wood stove, which keeps us warm in winter, but creates more greenhouse gasses. To much thinking, move on. Garden lawn mowed, mostly, and bonfire finished - embers are still visible at 10pm (more greenhouse gasses?). Will be put out by the expected rain tonight. Busy, busy day. Muddy patch just outside the garden has some deer prints (extra pic). They must come by regularly, as we saw the hunt investigating the scene the other day. Run away Bambi!!!  Beer to relax, then bed. Body aches now.
