Doorways from the Nicolas Party exhibit

Yesterday I went to a wonderful exhibit at the FLAG Art Foundation in Chelsea curated by the Swiss artist Nicolas Party. Called “Pastels,” it contained his own works and those of other artists (from Degas and Cassatt to present-day friends of his) which had all been done using pastel chalks. The art on the walls was engaging and often lovely, but it was the walls themselves, and in particular the arched doorways between them, that really caught my eye. These too had been painted by Party, in colors designed to match and enhance the artworks. I know it’s cheating to use yesterday’s blips — a cheat made worse by the fact that the show ended last night, so you can’t even see it for yourself now — but I couldn’t resist putting up these four. (Three extras today.)
