Otira

Of course it's raining in Otira. How would you live there? Rains soooo much. I think not many people live there now. These houses look unlived in especially the one with a chimney only. However, if the others are lived in they look sad too. You'd never get the outside painted because it rains.

I was talking to a lady who said she didn't mind the rain - she comes from Ireland.

A story over the intercom told how coal was so important in the past as it was so hard to keep warm and dry. It was reported to the policeman that the coal was being thieved. He put small amount of explosives amongst the coal. When there was an explosion in someone's chimney they could identify the thief. Good story eh.
