Everyday I Write The Book

Family

The theme for the day. Received this amazing print from D. who had taken an old black and white picture of my parents and painted it in full colour. This is them in 1947, after my dad had been shipped back from South Africa where he had been recovery from TB caught whilst in the army. I say shipped back, he was actually deported for organising strikes amongst the black mineworkers. Making trouble with the establishment was his superpower.

My NHS family kept me busy this morning - teleconferences to manage busy hospitals and some bits I didn’t get to finish yesterday.

We went to see Parasite late afternoon, which is also (on one level) a movie about family. Walked out overwhelmed. Falls into the category of "brilliant movies I don’t think I could watch again". Shocking on many levels. Go and see it but make sure you have a stiff drink afterwards.

TGR FaceTimed from Canada tonight. Needed a bit of TLC, she has a very demanding job which she cares a lot about but things are a bit frustrating at the moment. Big virtual hugs. A very important function of a loving family.

The Dizzle got back from 24 hours with Mystic Em’s family - he had made a salted caramel Apple crumble for the lunch table. Food and families definitely go together.

Missing Strider who is in York for the weekend. Viking festival. Much beer of course. Looking forward to having him home tomorrow.

Got an invite to a big family gathering at Easter which was really nice. Hopefully spring weather will be in the air. Had enough of storms and rain this winter.

And as you can see Dylan photobombed the picture. Cats are family too ...
