Self made butcher’s block chopping board

Hubby, Leevi, Tommi and grandfather left to Helsinki early in the morning, they made a trip to International Boat Show. Hubby has chronic sailing boat fever. 

Leevi and grandfather have made five large butcher’s block chopping boards by themselves and we also got one in the evening! It was a long project. The board is seriously thick, durable and hard-wearing. It weights 6,5 kg! 

Butcher’s block chopping boards are kinder to the knife blade. This is because when your knife cuts down on an end grain chopping board it passes between the fibres of the wooden chopping board, the fibres then close up again once the blade is removed.
