RIP Mum-in-Law
Today started off with the sad but not unexpected phone call at 5.45am from Mum-in-Law's care home to tell us that she had just died. We'd hoped to be there when it happened but in the end it had been too quick for them to call us (our hotel is only about a mile from the care home). We'd half expected this call, as when we left her last night her breathing had become rather more laboured, but she was very comfortably asleep and the care home staff assured us that this had continued right up to the moment of her death. When we arrived she looked beautiful and peaceful in her bed. So while it's the sad end of the era of her 96 years of life, in a way we're pleased that she's not suffering any more and was comfortable at the end.
So we then had lots of phone calls to make, with time spent giving the news to friends and family while enjoying reminiscences of lovely times spent together with her over the years.
A flower blip therefore seemed appropriate today, but if you look closely you'll see that these are artificial flowers. "Why have I tagged them for Silly Saturday?". Well, they were on the table in the cafe at the local garden centre where we went for lunch and we thought it rather incongruous to have artificial flowers on the tables in a garden centre! Mum-in-Law could always see the funny side of things and in honour of her sense of humour I'm dedicating this silliness to her memory.
Thanks so much to everyone who's sent supportive comments over the last few days, and of course thanks as always to admirer for hosting Silly Saturday.
