São João Baptista Fortress

A delightful, if leisurely, start to the day with an excellent outdoor concert at the English Church in Funchal. I was looking forward to a tour of Blandys (wine merchants) having enjoyed the experience 20 years before. Perhaps I'm harder to please now - it was a bit unexciting and indifferent value for what was offered.

We can see the Fortaleza de São João Baptista do Pico from our hotel room, and it stands out each day as we walk down a narrow street into Funchal. As we came back, the sky looked quite threatening above the fort but we didn't see any rain. (Backblipped.)
