A Taste of Honey
To Edinburgh Lyceum for a preview of a new production of Shelagh Delaney's seminal 1958 play A. Taste of Honey, with EdiSteve. Worth braving the snow for.
I've seen the film, many years ago, but this is the first time I've seen Shelagh Delaney's original play - it's amazing to think she was just 18 when she wrote this insightful, sensitive, groundbreaking work. The cast brought 1958 working class Salford to work wonderfully well, especially Rebecca Ryan as pregnant teenager Jo and Charlie Ryan as the adorable gay wannabe dad Geoff. If you're in Edinburgh, don't miss this smart production, it's far more than a nostalgia piece
