Dejected samango monkey!

Still backblipping from fast WiFi at airport- the first since arriving in South Africa!

Off on a boat trip on the river at 7.45. It was all very relaxing - we saw several big pods of hippos, a crocodile, some yellow weavers at nests in the reeds, a water buck and 2 buffalos. It was pleasant in the breeze and shaded from the sun which was already hot.

The minibus picked us up at 10 and we headed into the iSimangaliso wetland park where we drove with the river on the left and the sea further to the right. We stopped to watch kudo, zebra, wildebeest, bee-eaters, water buck, dung beetles, warthogs and samango monkeys which are unique to this park. We then headed to the beach to swim where but it was a bit scary as high-powered fishing boats came whizzing in at the place where it was safe to swim.

On the way back we called to see Mission Rocks where it had been suggested as a 4 hour walk at low tide. Thankfully the tide was in.

It’s been a lovely relaxing day.
