Prickly South American migrant

We planted this Chilean Pine/monkey puzzle tree a few years ago when it was tiny. It is now taller than I am (although that's not a difficult feat.) I hope I live long enough to see it develop fruiting bodies. These spiky "footballs" have always fascinated me.
