Eyewitness

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on the 27th January.

On my travels called into a coffee shop that had a museum attached, commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day 2020.

Local school pupils had created powerful themes in response to this anniversary under the title Stand Together, urging us all to stand together against prejudice and hate.

There were a number of thought-provoking exhibits, however, this piece called "Eyewitness" confirmed a picture is worth a thousand words. Pupils put themselves in the place of the young people forced into cattle cars, unknowingly bound for the camps, looking at how colour can express emotions...

"Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin"...
