not in New Zealand ( where I last saw them) nor at the coast of the Mediterranean Coast, no, in Florence , Oregon. A huge tree, the whole tree in the extra. What a joy to see this! They have been my favorites for as long as I can remember and were so hard to get in the Germany of the seventies and eighties, before worldwide transportation made it possible to get tulips from Holland, lots of other delicate flowers and roses, roses, roses from Argentina in mid winter....
I guess I will whip up some courage and ask the tree owners for a baby of their tree.... There were many around.
