Life in Sunny Dubai

Good to be back

(12/2/20)

G had a short day and I needed to do things in that part of town, so I dropped her off and did some work at my Lebanese cafe. I haven't been here for about three months, so it was nice to be welcomed back.

The big thing today was to check out a couple of garages that might be able to help put the Volvo back on the road. Fortunately, they are both in the same part of town.

The first one we saw was amazing. It is a proper classic car restoration garage and they had vehicles in the shop that were such a surprise. True classic cars looking pristine. Even more amazing, the owner of the business was in the house and we were able to chat with him. He had an immediate connection with my car and I am confident that they can do the work, but the cost would be high. The next garage are specialised in electrical work and are more than happy to work on an older car. I may just have to go with them.

In the evening, we popped out to Karama as G needs a purple t-shirt for something she is doing tomorrow. I had the usual annoyance of shop keepers trying to solicit your business by telling you what they can offer.. "copy watches, copy handbags, shoes, luggage etc. etc." It's SO annoying. It doesn't happen when G is not there. Fortunately, we found the purple t-shirt quite quickly, and at a sensible price.

It was remarkably cool; cold even. In fact, there was evidence of a shower. LOVELY!
