Mind the steps!

For our first full day on Madeira we took a jeep tour of the south-west of the island. The off road sections were fun, but it wasn't practical to take photos on them.

At a coffee stop near Paul da Serra we met these cows on the cafe terrace. They are free to roam where they like. A man in the cafe kindly showed me a photograph of it with snow on the ground. Perhaps he thought it would make me feel at home. I didn't like to say that I had come there specifically to get away from any snow!

My extras are from Paul do Mar. The statue in the foreground is "The Man of the Sea". Our guide thought he was mourning relatives lost or emigrated,  but I can't find any more about it.
