Erector Set
I don't know if it is our advancing age and decrepitude or the fact that Ozzie is undeniably suffering from age and decrepitude even if we choose to deny it could possibly be happening to us, but what we now call a 'long' walk used to be a routine walk. We certainly can't blame it on 'winter' because we really haven't had any. It was 84ºF on my car thermometer when I was driving home this afternoon. Wildly unseasonal even for here....
Because it was so balmy we decided to walk to Dana and Jim's this morning, pick up Blake and walk him back to our house. According to my phone, it is 9,200 steps but they are hilly ones...we should get a bit of credit for that. We took a break at Dana's for a coffee and I remembered to take a picture of John's Erector Set in it's cute little red metal suitcase which now resides on a side table in her family room. It lived in our attic for ages, and Dana must have rescued it and has kept it ever since. I'm sure a child would have to be certified a fully qualified adult by OSHA and the Child Safety Administration to be allowed to play with such a toy today, despite the fact that with it, one can build hundreds of engineering marvels....
We came home from Oakland on Sunday to find our new and fabulously expensive trash* can on our front porch. I must admit that it fits perfectly and really is much more convenient than going through the basement door. I know it's a first world problem....but it's still satisfying to find the right solution....
