A Trial
No pooch today - the day care place for PD's room mate was shut due to weather so their owners were working from home.
So we had a day of avoiding the snow flurries - apart from when we went out to the shops and again to look after the monsters for a short time …. although they were both out at friends so we didn't actually have to see them).
I have had tears rolling down my cheeks over the farce that is the Queensferry Crossing ………. It was promised it would never close because of weather - but it is shut because there is ice falling off it and damaging vehicles. Now they are coming out with excuses like 'unique weather conditions' (snow and cold weather in winter …. who would have thought it) and 'wind direction' (from the West …. where it normally comes from). They are also telling people to avoid using the diversionary route and hour via Kincardine) because it is busy and to find 'alternative routes'. I am sure the people coming from St Andrews will be delighted at having to go via Stirling. Of course they could always get a bus to take them across the old Forth Road Bridge because that is open as usual - no ice on the cables there.
I think I know how the bridge come in £250 million under budget ……… they didn't actually THINK THINGS THROUGH.
The other scary thing is that they knew about the problem last year (when it was cold and there was a wee flurry or two of snow) did nothing.
I suspect that the money saved is going to be spent (probably with a load more) is rectifying things. A friend of mine has suggested fitting a wind turbine to each tower and using the power to heat up the cables …. maybe he should sell the idea to the Bridge authorities.
My trial today was lighting with a torch fitted with a spotlight adapter.
A 'work in progress' I think. Other attempts are over here.
