WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

My Bugbear.....

.....Kid's party bags!
I don't want to be a party pooper BUT - I think most people are aware nowadays about plastic pollution and the environmental damage it does.

The girls are invited to birthday parties nearly every weekend and eachtime they come home with party bags full of this kind of plastic rubbish. Shown in the blip are the contents of 2 such bags minus the sweets that were also inside.

These kind of 'toys' cannot be recycled because of the type and combination of plastics used in the making of them.

It makes me mad that shops sell this stuff in cheap multi packs to make it easy for parents to fill the bags with plastic tat that will all end up in landfill.

With a bit of thought this could change -
Paper note books.
Wooden pencils.
Pound shop puzzle books, colouring books.
Story books.
Tiny board jigsaws.
Metal hair clips.
Wooden kids jewellery.
Snap cards.
Etc etc etc

The actual bags can also be eco friendly paper ones.

Kids parties are far more extravagant these days than in my day - it seems no expense is spared with parents trying to keep up with each other. In fact sometimes the kids have come home with more gifts than they actually took for the birthday girl or boy!
We live in an age of excess and it needs to stop.

Someone needs to make a stand and set a precedence for smaller, cheaper and eco friendly kids parties.

Rant over!
