Gently down the stream

Goldfinches

A strange day of sun, black and blue skies and hail.  I walked into town this afternoon via the reserve and watched the heron come into land on the far side of the river, saw a kestrel hovering and caught the flash of a kingfisher.  But the birds which were around in the greatest numbers were the goldfinches, feeding greedily on alder seeds.  And as we have a lot of alder in the wet places, they had plenty to scoff.

So they are my blip for today.

Thank you all for your very kind comments, hearts and stars on yesterday's cygnet.  I will, of course, thank blippers individually for hearts, but more generally I really appreciated your lovely comments, so am saying this here too ;))

Enjoy your evening  xx
