The barn owl.

Squally showers of hail and sleet, strong wind, and freezing cold. No way was I going outside, ( except to move the dustbin)
So decided to photograph the painting I bought Mr C for Christmas. Done by a very talented friend of ours.
The same lady who had painted the snowdrops card I blipped last week.

We had a very enjoyable evening yesterday.
Excellent wine tasting. I liked them all.
Very well chosen by Gill, who certainly knows her stuff.

The first was a white Australian wine made from the Fiano grape which comes from the Campania region of Italy.

Another Australian white. The grapes were Assyrtiko. A Greek wine grape indigenous to the island of Santorini.

From Portugal a red wine made from a French grape called Alicante Bouschet. Quite light, and nice for Summer drinking.

Followed by a Malbec, normally associated with Argentina , but grown in Spain.

Second to last was a red, Petit Verdot which is a French grape, but this time grown in
La Mancha, Spain.

Lastly my favourite, a red wine made in Argentina from the Bonarda grape which originated in Piedmont, Italy. The 2nd most widely planted red grape variety in the country after Malbec.

Certainly an interesting and entertaining evening, with good food and good company.
Nice to have a lift home too.
