C is for Chaffinch

Today was Wetland Birds Survey day. I woke before dawn to the sound of sleet hammering against the window. It was tempting to stay put, but I made it out and was glad I did. The weather was fine - sunny and fairly sheltered down by the reservoir, and best of all, I got 2 year ticks - a Treecreeper and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. At the far end of the reservoir I was rewarded with the sight of this sweet Chaffinch posing on a budding branch.
