That was the week that was..........
"It's over so let it go......."
So goes the theme tune and lyrics of the retro satirical TV programme.

A week ago this evening Stephen was suffering with chronic pain in his stomach, after soldiering on through the weekend with a diagnosis of UTI combined with constipation, having been in A and E for 3 hours two days earlier.
On Tuesday morning following an early visit to the GP surgery, I found myself with him in an ambulance on our way, very urgently, blue light flashing, back to the hospital to be admitted for urgent surgery.
He had a twisted bowel and blockage, which they thought initially had possibly had ruptured.
It was my birthday.
I didn't write about the outcome last week. Just the cause,
He has to have a stoma bag for 6 months, but fortunately it is reversible in 6 months. The Consultant Surgeon told us that was good news when we saw him the morning afterwards up on the Intensive Care Ward.
Stephen isn't being coy about it either. He just says it like it is....
That is his choice.
Today the reality began to bite, about how serious the situation had been and the long road to recovery. .He had always been so active.
It is now a day at a time.
In all that happened and his birthday last weekend I didn't manage to open my own cards! Nor the last of the gifts.
When I got home from visiting today, I sat down and opened them.
I took the photo.
The cards on the table are mine and the presents are mine and his.
He will be home, maybe, by the weekend, depending on how he is and how he is managing his care. The Registrar said that he needed to have regained more strength beforehand.
That was indeed the week that was.................. not one either of us would care to repeat..........
Just thankful that he is still here.
