KKK Rally Fizzles, Antifascists Party

The KKK rally planned for Portland today was cancelled, but the antifascists gathered anyway for solidarity, dancing, pizza, tangerines, and sign-waving.

As we were beginning to leave the park, heading for home, the Portland Police showed up in riot vans and started ordering, via loudspeakers, "Stay on the sidewalks, do not enter the roadway." No one had been entering the roadway except to go home. When someone hurled a tangerine at a police officer in riot gear, the loudspeaker blared, "Throwing oranges at Portland Police is a crime. Anyone suspected of committing a crime is subject to arrest." Three people were actually arrested, but given that three to four hundred showed up, that's not such a bad tally.
