Out and About

On the Columbia

I took two hikes today. This morning, I did the Dry Gulch hike by myself. I had a great time. My friend Donna, who will be going to the Cotswolds with me, texted me and asked me if I could walk with her. So, in the afternoon, we got another 3 miles in. This time, we walked along the Columbia River.

We walked on the "wild side" of the river that has some nice sand dunes and beach coves and is not developed. On the other side of the river, are a lot of industrial buildings. Many of these are apple sheds that provide cold storage for the apples grown locally and then shipped out throughout the year.

In this photo, you can see the foothills and the mountains you see in the far distance are the Cascade Mountains.

All and ll, I got in at least 7 miles of walking with a gain of about 1,100 feet in elevation.
