Dark & Stormy
... is maybe one of my favourite cocktails (dark rum, ginger beer and lime), but it was also the weather today as Storm Ciara passed over the UK. I had considered taking The Three Amigos into Edinburgh but I reckoned I would have spent all my time getting them to stand up again after being blown over (even yesterday was a bit like that at the Forth Bridge). Edinburgh was also hosting this year's Calcutta Cup at Murrayfield, which is a long tradition of Scotland versus England Rugby matches that have been running almost every year since 1879. This match is part of the Six Nations rugby tournament which also includes Wales, Ireland, France and Italy, and possibly South Africa in 2024! England have won the match almost twice as much as Scotland, but we Scots are used to being the losers underdogs, it just makes it better when we win! I am not really a big rugby fan but I do like to watch the Six Nations and World Cup matches and prefer it over football/soccer.
So, a cosy day in with the boys? Jess(cat) joined us today, she likes her box but we didn't get her from Amazon. The blip is from just before the kick off when hopes were high - I am not sure everyone was concentrating! Anyway, unsurprisingly Murrayfield had the same weather as us, which made it difficult for the players. There were times when either team could have won the game but it stayed all level until 10 minutes from the end when England took too many points for Scotland to come back. In the post match TV interviews the big muckle players were shivering as they spoke, it was horrendous out there. Not sure the weather is going to get any better over the next few days!
Over the past few days we've have been trying to make the boys something that resembles a kilt, but it has proved too difficult - we don't have the skills and the boys don't have an easy body shape :-) Instead, we made them some tartan scarves to keep them warm :-)
