Not Praying But Digging
This reminded me of a quote from Dorothy Sayers:
The church’s approach to an intelligent carpenter is usually confined to exhorting him not to be drunk and disorderly in his leisure hours, and to come to church on Sundays. What the church should be telling him is this: that the very first demand that his religion makes upon him is that he should make good tables.
Mike planted two more trees today, a fig and something that has lost its leaves and we can't remember what it is, Andrelino gave it to us. And a yellow rose bush that I got ages ago and has been languishing in a pot ever since. It's no joke digging on this Land, there are so many rocks.
I cooked for tomorrow and did a bit of road building. Amongst other things.
Gratefuls:
- yet another beautiful day, we even had lunch on the table outside (that Mike has now put onto four slices of stone we found)
- the joy of hands in soil and filthy fingernails
- rich, loamy compost from our kitchen and toilet waste, nourishment for the trees and the rose
