BIG Birthday

Well it had to happen - time can't be slowed or stopped - so I have now achieved my three score years and ten.  Today we visited the Abu Dhabi Louvre museum and what a treasure it proved to be - wonderful architecture and amazing photo opportunities - we stayed all day and ended up with a reasonable sunset as a bonus.  The structure of this place is incredible - a huge dome over a series of linked buildings all surrounded by the bay.  John is a civil engineer and understands the technical issues involved - he could not see how the roof was supported and could only begin to imagine the technical difficulties of holding back the seas while it was actually built!  Close up of the roof as an extra and one of an exhibition case with a few reflections..

We had a drink back at the hotel (in happy hour of course) and then went out to a superb Lebanese restaurant where there was so much food we have a lot in our room fridge which will provide lunches for several days.
Perhaps a quieter day tomorrow.
