Lauri's senior ball
The day when the third year students of high school leave the school to start preparing for their matriculation exams is also the day when the second year students become seniors. Back in my day it was celebrated the next day and the traditional ball was a relatively new tradition then.
Now it is 34 years older than then, and it has changed somewhat. Now the seniors dance twice, in the evening with the parents in the audience and the next day with the rest of the school watching, though one group was at the nearby mall, too. We did just the next day part back then, but the evening show was added very soon after that.
The clothing has changed too, the girls' dresses have changed from attic finds etc. to more American prom style and boys' suits are also a little more posh. The traditional dances (polonaise, Viennese waltz etc.) have kept their position, but a completely new dance with the students' own choreography has been added to the end. The second extra is of that. It was a lot of fun.
Lauri on the right in the first extra. He managed to stay quite far from my camera most of the time.
