Lion's Den Cave, Tillicoultry Glen

The Ochil fault line runs along the Hillfoots, and signs of the earthquake and landslip 300 million years ago that caused the steep escarpment behind Alva and Menstrie can be seen at this spot, known as the Lion's Den cave.  The gully that runs underneath the cave is the actual line of the Ochil fault, the crack in the earth's crust that still occasionally causes earth tremors in the area.
