During the day Edinburgh Castle can catch your eye or fade into the background.

At night it can take you by surprise. Well, maybe just simple country folk like me.

I came around a corner, and there it was. High above me. Floodlit at the end of the street.

I'd popped over to see Edinburgh Capitals play Hull. Most folk seem to be hiding behind the sofa peeping over the top at the weather forecast. Us teuchters are made of sterner stuff.

Glad I went. Caps won 9-4. Is that enough to tempt me to go to their game in Belfast on Saturday?
