Abstract?

For me abstract art is still a closed book. What is abstract? Sometimes I recognise it as such, but often what is presented is very concrete. And then I wonder why that would be called abstract.
My blip of today is probably considered abstract, hence I tagged it.
My object is a hand- and homemade urn (empty :)).
