Nicky and her Nikon

Foggy morning

It was unexpectedly foggy this morning. I walked Xena later than usual (trying to avoid peak times due to her kennel cough) and when I got to the woods in the late morning the fog was still very thick. By the time we finished the walk 40 minutes later it had lifted and was bright blue skies, and it stayed like that for the rest of the day (see extra).

I decided I had better check one more time that I have everything for our trip to Patagonia and Antarctica as we leave on Saturday. It's not the kind of trip where it won't matter if you have the wrong clothing, it will matter greatly! I was watching video links from the Antarctica trip organisers and noticed that the outer jackets they recommend were Musto offshore sailing jackets - completely waterproof, windproof and breathable - then I remembered that we have such jackets from our sailing days, but because they are in another cupboard I had forgotten about them. It never crossed my mind to think of sailing jackets (or oilskins as Gavin calls them) for a trip to Antarctica, but when you have all the various warm layers on it does make sense that this would be the perfect outer layer.

I have book club tonight when we are having our (much) belated Burns Night Supper. Everyone was too busy to have it on an earlier date, but it is always so good that it is worth waiting for!
