We haven't been kick sledding much this winter - the streets and walkways are so well gritted. So here's for the record - a few rounds at the ice rink after some chilly ice skating. I think I'm still going to do one huk (hold up kicksled) shot, as long as I can. But no tripod this time so it'll have to wait.

Kick sledding was a part of my childhood - that's how we would go to school if the streets were nicely icy, or that's how we would go to check the fishnets that were pulled under the sea ice as soon as the ice was thick enough. They needed a regular check that was done by pulling them out from the ice cold water and then back again using a rope that was tied to both ends of the row of nets. It was something that always felt like an endless procedure in the cold and breeze. If the ice was smooth I could take the ice skates or if there was enough snow, we would ski instead.

...

The second open house was held today, and we're gradually getting routined to the hassle of sorting and arranging the house tip-top. Then it was off to help out at the school fundraiser and second hand sale.

Another weekend gone all too quickly.
